Learning objectives

  • acquire knowledge of French, German and oratorio repertoire
  • gain insight into interpretational and stylistic characteristics in concert repertoire from different eras
  • acquire knowledge about the relationship between text and music

Overview

  • Guided learning of French, German and oratorio repertoire.
  • Student performances with accompanist of learned songs.
  • Presentations of repertoire.

Structure

One double lecture per week throughout the year. Students can choose to perform parts of their repertoire in an internal or public concert.

Course requirements

  1. Attendance and active participation is compulsory. More than 20 % absence from class will normally cause the student to fail the subject.
  2. Students will learn and perform repertoire determined by the semester schedule. Each semester topic requires a repertoire of at least 15 minutes duration per student.

Final assessment

All course requirements must be approved prior to obtaining a final assessment.

Assessment is based on learning objectives. The final assessment is given as a pass/fail mark, which is determined by the course teacher based on each student’s level of achievement throughout the course period.

New assessment

In the case of reassessment, students will take a practical exam wherein they will perform a 30-minute repertoire. Students will bring their own accompanist.
