Course description


This course gives students in the Master of Music Performance (Solo/Chamber music) with voice as their main instrument the opportunity to participate in a staged opera or music theatre project. The course is linked to Scene­fag og beve­gel­se II (SCEBEV20), a mandatory course for singers in the second year of the Bachelor of Music Performance programme. It provides advanced training in stage work, role development, and ensemble skills.

Through practical participation in the project, students will develop artistic maturity, stage confidence, and a professional understanding of working in larger productions

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the course, students are expected to:

  • demonstrate skills in the dance forms included in the production
  • have basic skills in developing opera and musical theatre roles

Overview

The course includes:

  • preperation for and participation in one opera or music theatre project (including approx. one week of intensive rehearsal)
  • stage and musical work with role, movement, and ensemble
  • individual artistic development through practical stage experience

Structure

The course is project-based and conducted in a group linked to the teaching in SCEBEV20. Students are also expected to work independently in addition to the organized teaching and rehearsals

Course requirements

Active participation in the course is mandatory. Normally, more than 20% absence will result in failure.

All course rewuirements must be approved in order for the student to receive final assessment

Final assessment

All course requirements must be completed and approved for final assessment.
Assessment is based on participation in the performance(s), normally held at NMH.

The final grade is pass/fail

Reassessment:

For reassessment, the same rules apply as for the regular assessment.
