Exam Recitals Spring 2026

Are you a 2nd or 4th year Bachelor student, or a 2nd year Master student? Look here for important information regarding the planning of your exam recital.

Three deadlines

There are three important deadlines you need to remember.

15 January

Application deadline for exam recitals with extraordinary technical requirements

  1. Alternative location (primarily for Master students)
  2. Extraordinary technical requirements that exceed the standard user-controlled equipment

If you have extraordinary technical requirements (such as lights, sound, rig, extra time, alternative location) for your exam concert, you need to use this form to describe it (nettskjema. The form is closed). The exams office will consider your submission in collaboration with your principal teacher and adapt where it is necessary and techinically/practically possible.

Basic requirements such as microphone for speaking, projector/canvas (stationary) and standard user operated stage lights are available for everyone in the Lindeman and Levin Halls. These are not considered extraordinary requirements.

Times and dates, reports and submissions

You can find the time and place for your exams via TimeEdit. Do not log in, but use åpen inngang and then choose eksamen. You then search using one of the search options from the menu, i.e your name or your instrument.

How does the production department communicate during exam planning?

Via NMH student e-mail.

Organisation of exam concerts

2nd year Bachelor's exams are carried out as private concerts, not publicly or internally announced:

  • Production follow-up: Normally no production follow-up. You are responsible for planning and organising the concert yourself.
  • Audience/publicity: If you wish, you may invite friends/family as the audience. No public or internal publishing.
  • An event host will be present to assist with practical matters as needed.

4th year Bachelor's and Master's exams are carried out as public concerts (as a general rule):

  • Production follow-up: Followed up by a producer with regard to practical arrangements.
  • An event host will be present to implement plans agreed with the producer and to provide general assistance.
  • The concert will be announced in NMH’s public concert calendar, provided that the programme and other promotional material have been submitted via the form before April 30.

Exams at external venues, including Sluttspill, are treated in the same way as 4th year Bachelor's and Master's concerts at NMH, regardless of level.

Performance duration and standardised time slots between exams

The time booked for your exam in TimeEdit is the time you have available for the exam concert.

As a general rule, there are 30–45 minutes of free time in the hall between exams. The exception is if you have applied for and been granted extraordinary needs before the 15 January deadline. It is important that the hall is cleared as quickly as possible after the concert so as not to cause problems for the next candidate.

These time slots are there to allow for unforeseen delays and incidents, as well as audience entry and exit, rigging, and other needs. Exceptions may occur if a student has applied for extraordinary needs before the December 15 deadline and received approval.

Especially for jazz, folk music, and FRIBA/FRIMA exams

  • It is particularly important to meet the deadlines for the technical rider/information (April 15) and promotional information (April 30). Start planning now!
  • It is important to remember that exams follow a continuous schedule and therefore there is not time or opportunity for major deviations or large-scale projects.
