Guidelines for Use of Project Funds
Teaching: Project funds are primarily used for teaching, either with faculty members at NMH or with external teachers. This generally includes instrumental lessons but may also cover other subject areas as agreed upon with your main supervisor.
Ensemble Projects: Funds can be used to engage musicians participating in ensemble projects, provided they act as mentors in ensemble settings. It is not permitted to engage musicians who students regularly perform with, such as fellow students or students from other institutions.
Study Trips and Courses: Project funds can cover study trips to meet teachers outside Oslo or participation in courses and seminars. Funds can also be used for digital courses, masterclasses, or seminars, particularly when physical travel is not feasible or when a digital format is more suitable.
- Recording of Original Material: NMH facilities should generally be used for recordings. In some cases, part of the project funds may be used to rent an external studio and hire a producer, provided the purpose is relevant to the student’s guidance and learning. Such expenses must be detailed in the application, and typically no more than one-third of the funds can be allocated to recording expenses.
Touring: Funds cannot be used to cover travel expenses for regular touring activities.
Purchases: Project funds cannot be used to purchase instruments, software, technical equipment, or other durable materials.
* Students in the Bachelor of Music in Music Education programme must contact the programme director for the Bachelor of Music Performance Improvised Music and Jazz programme for approval of application.
