About the Course

BAIL, Business and Arts Sustainable Innovation Lab, is an interdisciplinary intensive course for students from 9 European universities with different fields of study. The course provides a unique opportunity to present yourself internationally to a potential future professional network, attend a concert, and learn from lectures and group work. The next course will take place in Madrid in April 2025.

Time and Place

The course takes place from April 6-12, 2025 at CEU San Pablo University in Madrid.

Course Leader from NMH

Andreas Sønning

Credits

Students receive 3 ECTS for participating in the course.

Different Fields of Study Intersect

In the course, performing and creative music students will meet students and professors from various other disciplines such as economics/finance, management, PR/media, social media, fine art, graphic design, fashion, and computer science/technology. NMH students will gain interdisciplinary insight into project development and experience working in networks where others have supplementary competence that we need as performers, composers, conductors, and programme creators.

Introduction Course

Before the course week in Madrid, an introductory course in blocks will be held at NMH; 4 gatherings with lectures/workshops on career development and rehearsals for the concert in Madrid. The content will be about concert production combining dramaturgical tools and how to establish as a culture entrepreneur. The focus will be on methods for developing stage projects and how to build value chains with financing. The time and place for these meetings will be confirmed later.

After Christmas, all BAIL students will gather online for a first meeting and a joint presentation of the program.

Project Tasks in Interdisciplinary Teams

During the course week, the students will be divided into interdisciplinary groups to solve a project task. Principles and experiences from innovation and entrepreneurship are presented and the relevance for music and the cultural field is discussed. Raising awareness of the UN's 17 sustainability goals is a central goal for this course.

If the cost of travel and local transport is more expensive than the remaining scholarship, there may be a small personal contribution.
