Orchestra Projects

Here is an overview of the NMH Symphony Orchestra projects, the NMH Chamber Orchestra and NMH Sinfonietta, and guidelines for participation in orchestra projects.

What are Orchestra Projects?

Orchestra projects, and other large ensemble projects, are mandatory for all bachelor in music performance students playing an orchestral instrument. Master's students have one required project per academic year.

Where do you find the orchestra projects?

You will find more information about the projects in your curriculum, in TimeEdit and Canvas. Please get to know our semester dates to make sure you are available for project weeks.

Guidelines for participation in and evaluation of orchestra and other ensemble projects under the auspices of the Orchestra Committee

Adopted February 17, 1997, last revised June 2018.

Orchestra and ensemble projects are an integral and essential part of the performance studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH).

The projects aim to qualify students for a future as professional ensemble musicians, and the quality of both learning outcomes and results are therefore directly linked to the effort and input of each student.
