The Syllabus in Audiobook Format

The Norwegian Library of Talking Books and Braille (NLB) produces and lends academic literature in audiobook format. The library caters for students with dyslexia, impaired vision, ADHD or other reading difficulties.

A free service

NLB is a public and free service for students in higher education. Students with visual impairments are entitled to have their study literature produced by NLB.

A large selection

NLB publishes audiobooks on a number of subjects. Psychology, economics, law, social work, occupational therapy, nursing and education are amongst the most widely available topics. Many of the audiobooks are produced using speech synthesis. This allows you to simultaneously listen and follow the text on the screen.

Students can also borrow from our large collection of audiobook fiction.

How to register

To obtain NLB borrowing rights, a professional practitioner must confirm that you have a disability that makes reading difficult. Nurses, doctors, speech therapists or PPT (educational psychology) practitioners are amongst those who can provide confirmation when you register.

Borrow and listen with the Lydhør app

Lydhør gives you access to all our audiobooks on your mobile or tablet.

NLB’s student services can help you find audiobooks and requisition items from other countries.
