- Check that the course you have completed is of the same scope (same number of credits) as the compulsory course you are expected to take at NMH.
- Write a brief application describing which course you have already completed and which course you are seeking an exemption from.
- Include a link to the course description.
- Attach the transcript of your grades from your previous institution. You do not have to attach a transcript if you have indicated that NMH may access your external results in Studentweb. Note: This only applies to Norwegian institutions.
- E-mail your application to post@nmh.no or hand it in to the admin office.
- The reply to your application will be sent to your NMH e-mail address.
Recognition of Compulsory Courses
You may apply for an exemption if you have already completed an equivalent course at the Norwegian Academy of Music or another institution. You should submit your application at the start of the semester.
How to apply
If your application is accepted
If you are granted an exemption, you may not be able to convert all of your grants to a loan. The reply letter will provide further information.
To prevent this scenario, you may enrol in an elective course either at the Academy or at another institution. You may do so at any time during your study programme, but no later than after four years.
