Student Welfare Organisation (SiO)

Student life offers small and big challenges. Sometimes the problems can grow so large that they occupy the mind making it difficult to concentrate on your studies.

SiO Health Services offers complete health services for students. In addition to general practitioners, SiO Health has dentists, psychiatrists, psychologist and specialists in psychosomatic physiotherapy, together with student consultants on staff.

As a regular GP patient with us, you can get your expenses reimbursed if they exceed 350 NOK per calendar year.

SiO Athletica has five clubs you may enjoy a wide range of sports and exercise. SiO Athleticas facilities include a swimming pool, squash and outside tennis courts, bouldering wall, weights machines and more. They offer a variety of group training classes and courses, and if you wish a closer training follow-up, Athleticas PT-team helps you to reach your goals.

Find your student association with SiO!

There are more than 450 student associations affiliated with the Student Welfare Organisation in Oslo (SiO). This means that you can choose between 450 associations to have fun with – or you can start your own association.

As a student in Oslo, you are a member of SiO as soon as you have paid the semester fee.

SiO Housing

Living in student accommodation means living near campus, in a good and social living environment with affordable rent. SiO Bolig has over 8400 student accommodations in 24 student villages and -houses all over the city.

They have a wide range of flats in different sizes and standards, for singles, couples and families.

SiO Kindergartens offer a full educational service with experienced and dedicated staff. The 11 kindergartens are located close to the educational institutions and the student housing villages and have 600 placements for children between 8 months until six years old.

The kindergartens have ongoing admission.

SiO offers meals to 50 000 students every day. They have a good selection of affordable and tasty everyday meals, including good offerings for lunch and dinner.

Once you have paid the semester fee or received study rights with us, SiO will have access to personal information about you that is registered in the student register for the Norwegian Academy of Music. This enables SiO to know that you are a student, allowing you access to information about SiO's offers and services. SiO will be provided with your birth and personal number/D-number, first name, last name, place of study code, most recently paid semester fee, possible exemption from semester fee, email and mobile number.

The access also applies to subcontractors with whom SiO has a data processing agreement. This is necessary for SiO to be able to deliver its services to the students.

The basis for the disclosure is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Article 6. no. 1 c (legal obligations) and the Act on Student Welfare Organisations (Studentsamskipnadsloven) §§ 4 and 5.
